NIGERIANS REACT TO PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

Nigeria organized a debate for presidential candidates yesterday. In the presidential debate, it was expected that the sitting head of state, President Mohammadu Buhari will argue with contestants. Each contestant was expected to clarify the nation on why he/she should be voted in.

Buhari was expected to clear the air on many issues disturbing the nation. He was expected to debate with his opponents and convince the nation on the following issues:

Achievements of his administration in four years.

The issue of insecurity in Nigeria.

The issue of oneness and continuity.

His agenda in the “next level”- Why he must continue as head of state, among others.

Nevertheless, president Mohammadu Buhari was not present at the debate hall. Moreover, the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar who went on a trip was able to arrive at the venue as expected.

However, Atiku was not pleased by the absence of president Mohammadu Buhari. He therefore, rendered apology to his Co-contestants and left the venue.

Alhaji Atiku’s inability to debate with those on ground and Mr. Buhari’s absence from the presidential debate have sparked fire on the social media.

Reportngr.com conducted a research on people’s opinion on “Whether Atiku was right to leave the presidential debate venue or not”.

From the results gathered,

85% of Nigerians stated that Alhaji Atiku’s action was okay while president Buhari was wrong. 10% of Nigerians stated that Atiku was wrong while Buhari was right. The remaining 5% were undecided.
