Some members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shiite sect), today Tuesday 9th of July 2019, stormed the National Assembly.
During the invasion, a police officer and a civil defence officer were shot.
Consequently, the National Assembly gates have been locked.
The dreaded Shiite members overpowered the policemen at the gate of the National Assembly.
They also collected one of their guns and shot the two security operatives with the gun.
Nevertheless, they entered the main entrance popularly known as MOPOL gate and vandalised the gatehouse.
However, three vehicles were burnt while many others were vandalised.
The gates to all the National Assembly premises have been closed as staff and other accredited persons ran for their lives.
Movement to and fro the National Assembly have been restricted.
No public briefing has been made.
