NIGERIAN POLICE LABELLED ME CRIMINAL JUST 4 DAYS IN NIGERIA-US COP

An American- based Nigerian man has lamented his ordeal in the hands of some Nigerian police officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The man who happened to be an American police officer raised his voice after allegedly stated that some Nigerian police officers have labelled him a criminal just after four days of holiday in the country.

The man took to twitter and stated thus :

“Just 4 days in Nigeria & I have already been profiled as a criminal by the Nigeria police force. Because I have braids”

Report Nigeria learnt that the Washington DC Police officer visited Nigeria his home country for the holidays. He has barely stayed 4 days in the country before his encounter with some Nigerian police officers.

He however stated that he was riding back to his hotel room on Toyin street, Allen Avenue Ikeja with Taxify. However, some police officers stopped him twice on the same road.

He alleged that they ordered him to step out of the vehicle. And asked him what he does for a living. He was instantly labelled a criminal.

But he was so lucky as he was with his full identification papers. Fortunately, he was left after police went through his credentials.

Below is his tweet:

“4 days in Nigeria & I have already been profiled as a criminal by the Nigeria police force. They profile people based on looks. Male with dreads, braids and so on. I work for the Washington DC as a police officer and I have braids. Enough of the profiling! @TunjiDisu1 @aleeygiwa”

Explaining how it happened, he wrote: “Riding back to my hotel on Toyin street, Allen, Ikeja, with Taxify, and the police had stopped me twice on the same road, ordered me to step out of the vehicle asking what I do for a living. My police credentials saved me from being a victim.”
