FG MAKES U-TURN, REMOVES VARSITY TEACHERS FROM IPPIS

The federal government ( FG ) of Nigeria has succumbed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) demand. And agreed to pay the university lecturers their outstanding salaries.

The agreement was reached on Friday to pay salaries from February to June using the old salary payment GIFMIS platform.

This was part of many agreements reached at the end of a 7-hour negotiation meeting. The meeting was between government delegation and ASUU members.

However, the Federal government ( fg ) delegates were led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige. While ASUU members were led by their President, Biodun Ogunyemi.

Reading out the communiqué at the end of the meeting, Ngige said the government has also offered to increase the Earned Academic Allowances to university staff from N30 billion to N35 billion and revitalization fund from N20 billion to N25 billion.
