One of the most prominent pro-democracy activists in Egypt has been put on a terrorism list. Adel-Monaem Abul Fetouh, an Egyptian Islamist politician is among the arrested persons.
Also on the terrorism list are more than 20 others, accused of having joined the Muslim Brotherhood.
Alaa Abdel-Fattah was one of the key figures in the uprising that drove Hosni Mubarak from power in 2011.

He has since served a five year jail sentence. And now, he is currently back in detention after being re-arrested in September.
This came as the Egyptian authorities mounted a new campaign in response to small-scale government protests. Any form of protest in Egypt is currently not tolerated by government.
