CHARLES OPUTA (CHARLES BOY)
Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy is the second son of late Justice Chukwudiofu Oputa. He is a native of Oguta Local Government area of Imo State Nigeria. Besides, he is an entertainer and a human right activist. Most importantly,he is the Coordinator of “OURMUMUDONDO MOVEMENT”, Charles is in his late sixties. Many fans call him “Area Father”. Recently, he said that he would have become a priest when he was a boy. Charly Boy attributed this to his strong moral and spiritual parental upbringing.
AT JUSTICE OPUTA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The annual conference in memory of Charly Boy’s father, Justice Oputa was held on Tuesday, 12th December 2018. At Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria. It is an annual event focused on leadership lectures. During the conference, Charly Boy Stated that he was an altar boy trying to live up to his father’s expectations. However, he was trained with so much religion that he decided to be a priest. “Almost every morning, we attended morning mass which was compulsory. Most importantly, confession of sins, church meetings and Bible studies were regular.” He said.
UPBRINGING
“My dear father ‘terrorised’ us with the burden of bearing the name, “Oputa”. There used to be a sermon and lecture in our household on why we must protect the Oputa name.
“It was pounded into our skulls that a good name is worth more than all the billions in the bank. These values have become extinct in today’s Nigeria,” he added.
CHARLY BOY EULOGIZED HIS FATHER
Charly Boy, in an emotion-filled atmosphere, eulogized his late father, Oputa. The late Supreme Court Judge, Justice Oputa, was popularly known as “Socrates of the Nigerian Judiciary”. Above all, Charly Boy recounted the rigorous discipline he received under his father’s watch. The exercise that however shaped him into a better adult. He explained that the annual Justice Oputa Conference was a platform to share leadership values. And selfless service to humanity which defined the life of the late legal icon, Justice Chukwudiofu Oputa.
GROWING UP
“As a teenager, I saw my father as overbearing, bullish, brash, cantankerous and outdated. Nevertheless, my father’s overdose of discipline, strong moral value and spirituality were suffocating. Besides, I wondered why I was the most punished amongst my siblings. Discipline was enforced in our house as if we were in the army. Whenever we did something wrong my father never spared the rod,” he said.

It was a surprise that two days after the Oputa Memorial Conference, Charly Boy announces marriage divorce. The Maverick entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has announced his separation from his wife, Diane. This is coming after 40 years of marriage with Diana. According to him, he and Diane have ‘seen each other finish’.
“See finish” is a Nigerian concept that is used when a couple has become used to each other. And the couple believe that there is nothing left to see or experience in their relationship.

However, the #OurMumuDonDo convener said he will be getting married a day after the divorce. I will divorce my present wife on 14th December and remarry on 15th December 2018.

Charly Boy announced this on his social media handles. He however, added that “life is short so am living like a gangster”.
The young Oputa wrote: “Public Notice. On the 14th of December 2018, I will be divorcing my present wife to remarry on the 15th. “As see finish don enter our matter is time for a new vow. Life is short so am living it like a gangster. Der Father.”

Charly Boy joined the Seminary but left after a year. He allegedly contacted his first STD when he was 14 years.

Due to his several love affairs, his mother advised him to get married at 19. After two failed marriages, he got married to Diane forty years ago. It is not known how many children he has.
