The Sudan FMR President, Omar Al Bashir is in court. Bashir is charged with corruption and bribery.
In addition, Omar Bashir is also charged with possession of illicit foreign currency.
Moreover, Bashir says that $25M was given to him by Saudi Arabian Crown prince, Mohammed Bin Salman.
The former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has been denied bail by a court in capital Khartoum.
At the fourth court hearing on Saturday, Al Bashir’s office manager testified that the former Sudanese leader was the only person with a key to a room at the presidential palace.
The said room was holding millions of euros.
One of the defence witness, Yasser Basheer, said that the former president gave him more than 10 million euros ($11m) cash in his final months of rule for delivery to different parties.
Meanwhile, the former manager, who worked for Al Bashir from September 2018, said that Omar once gave him 5 million euros ($5.6m) for Abdelrahim Hamdan Dagalo.
Dagalo was the deputy head of the feared paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The money, Basheer said, was delivered in the presence of Abdelrahim’s brother and RSF head Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, a.k.a Hemeti.
Hemeti was also the deputy head of the Transitional Military Council (TMC) that ruled after al-Bashir’s removal.
Moreover, Hemeti is now a member of the Sovereign Council formed in a military-civilian power-sharing deal.
Nevertheless, the lawyer of the former Sudan president Bashir said that his client denied all the charges. The lawyer also said that defence will present witnesses at next hearing.
Omar Al Bashir of Sudan is facing a ten-year prison sentence if found guilty.
However, investigators stated that they found $130M in Bashir house after April coup.
It should be recalled that months of protest led to overthrow and end of Bashir’s three-decade rule.
