The call was made by a French politician who demanded that Benzema should be stripped of the two privileges for showing solidarity with Palestinians in the ongoing problem between Israel and Palestine.
Report Nigeria learnt that the said politician is serving in France’s senate.
The appeal reads: “We cannot accept that a French dual national, internationally known, could dishonour and could betray our country.”
This demand was made after Karim Benzema tweeted “All our prayers for the inhabitants of Gaza who are once again victims of these unjust bombings which spare no woman or children.
During a TV interview, the France interior minister, Gerald Darmanin, also differed from Benzema.
According to the Darmanin, “Mr. Benzema is as we all know, notably linked with the Muslim Brotherhood. We are confronting a hydra that is the Muslim brotherhood because they foster an atmosphere of jihadism”.
However, report say Karim Benzema is considering a legal action against Gerald Darmanin for spreading false information.
Benzema is the number five top goal scorer for the French National Team. Currently, Benzema plays a centre-forward for Saudi club Al-Ittihad.
It should be noted that Karim Benzema, Youcef Atal and Anwar el Ghazi are among some of the footballers facing backlash as a result of their support for Palestine in their conflict with Israel-Hamas.
Meanwhile, latest information states Benzema denied French interior minister’s claims of having links with Muslim Brotherhood. And Benzema’s lawyer has confirmed that he would be taken legal action against the interior minister.
